Students far far away!

Meet Kerena!!! She is my student who is doing her internship in Bhutan, which is a brand-new collaboration! She continues to impress me by stepping out of her comfort zone and doing hard things (and thriving in the process!!!) 🤩✌🏼🔥 and she is keeping in touch 💕 

She is in the process of preparing a presentation to local tourism students on regenerative tourism, so we had a long conversation about the connection between (neo)colonialism, globalization, and how tourism can re-inscribe colonial forces, but also be the opposite and work towards mutual respect, understanding, and growth when done right!

On a side note, although we have become accustomed to virtual meetings, I always like to take a moment to reflect on how amazing it is that we can see and speak to someone halfway around the globe and cheer on their journey!

Kerena, you are an inspiration!!! I hope to see more students take the leap in the coming semesters!!
