Passport  & Instructions

I created a passport for the different challenges, and an instruction sheet for each challenge.  The groups are invited to decide on a group name for themselves.  A set of instructions is on the back of the passport.

The Challenges

Students complete one challenge, and only if and when done properly, can they receive the next one.  At the end, the Global Challenge awaits them, which is usually a larger task that can be submitted via Blackboard for marks. In this example, my colleague and I ran the game across campus during the month of July (empty campus!) and asked other schools to play along as check points!

The Winner Certificate

 Even though I like to get prizes for the winners (Humber merchandise, Dollar store items, candy), sometimes an official certificate is all it takes! (The task of those who don't win is to finish off all the candy)

Teaching math and accounting?

Accounting is more fun if you create T-Accounts and have students record purchases, income and expenses while playing Monopoly.

Good thing I did not throw away my kids' lego.  Math concepts come easier with Lego.  Percents or fractions anyone?  Easy!
